This study examined variability and trends in the magnitude-frequency of intense rainfall between the years 2000 and 2021 in the coastal area of Lagos; investigated variability and trend in the sea level of the Gulf of Guinea part of the Atlantic Ocean bordering the study area; investigated the relationship between sea level rise and magnitude-frequency of rainfall and flooding in the area; and assessed the flood risks associated with the sea level rise and magnitude-frequency of intense rainfall in the study area. These were with a view to determining the flood risks associated with rising sea levels and increasing frequency and magnitude of intense rainfall in the study area.
