This study examined the relationship between job satisfaction and level of education on one had and job satisfaction and tenure on -to other. It also examined the influence of exposure to career counselling, marital status, gender and opportunity of in-service training on job satisfaction of the subjects. The sample of the study consisted of 350 junior staff randomly drawn from the technical and administrative divisions of the University of Ife research instrument used was a job satisfactionQuestionnaire. Correlation ratio was used to test for the relationship between job satisfaction and education. The Pearson's Product moment Correlation was used to determine the degree of relationship between job satisfaction and length of experience of subject;. The t-test was used for the remaining hypotheses which sought to find out whether variables like gender, marital status, in-service training and exposure co career counselling influence job satisfaction. All hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The result indicated that no significant relationship existed between job satisfaction of subjects and their educational qualifications. The study similarly reported that no significant relationship existed between subjects' job satisfaction and length of experience. It was also found that while gender, marital status and in-service training influenced positively the job satisfaction of subjects exposure to career counselling did not. It was therefore recommended that the University of Ife should increase the number of in-service beneficiaries. The study also recommended that periodic national job satisfaction survey should be conducted by the Federal Ministry of Labour in order to have regular and reliable data on the state of workers' morale nationally. Such an exercise may augur well for workers' morale - improvement and productivity. Possible areas of future research attempts were also suggested.en_US
