Some aspects of the reproductive biology of the blowfly, Chrysomyia chloropyga have been investigated. Adult flies were reared in an insectary at room temperature between the months of June and December and Relative Humidity of 75±5%. The eggws creamy-white and elongate and its mean hatching period to the first larval instar was 15 hours. There were three larval instars and the mean duration of each instar was 22,36 and 72 hours for the first, second and third instars respectively. The spine patterns on the body segments, the structure of the posterior disc and the anterior spiracles were salient features used for larval description. The pupa was quiescent and its developmental period ranged from 96 to 144 hours. The adult emergence spread over a period of 48 to 72 hours. The desirability of undertaking further detailed studies, especially on the distinguishing features of the larvae of the blowfly was suggesteden_US
