dc.description.abstractagents were tested against eight Gram-positive and two Gram-negative bacteria, one phytopathogenic and three Zoo-pathogenic fungi. The minimum inhibitory concentrations of the antimicrobial agents showed that Izal required the lowest concentration to be effective against all the bacteria (except P. aeruginosa) and fungi, followed by Dettol and Savlon, while T.C.P and Hibitane required appreciably higher concentrations against the microorganisms. Izal, Dettol and Savlon showed generally high antimicrobial activities initially, resulting in considerable killing within ten minutes, but there was complete kill (100%) in only o few uses. Interaction was allowed to continue for up to 20 minutes, greater overall killing were observed. This appears to be a way of conbating the survivors of the 10-minute disinfection and antiseptic period which would have given rise to resistant strains.en_US
