Abstract
The study of motivation is fundamental to the management of a unified Local government service. It has often been asserted that the greatest single factor that has persistently inhibited the effectiveness of Local government administration in Nigeria is its inability to attract and retain adequate number of competent technical, profesional or administrative staff.
